The Melville Motor Club is set to host an exhilarating series of motorcycle road races at East Fortune Aerodrome near Haddington, East Lothian, Scotland. This picturesque venue offers riders and spectators alike a unique blend of history and high-speed action on its 1.56-mile circuit.
Scheduled for April through September, these events include rounds of the SACU Scottish Championship, featuring various classes such as Formula SuperSport, Superbikes, Lightweights, Pre-Injection 600s, Junior Twins, CB500s, and Sidecars. Additionally, there are Club Championship Classes like Classic Superbikes, Sound of Thunder, Post Classic Juniors, and Formula 125.
East Fortune Aerodrome is a well-maintained facility with a full tarmac surface that ensures safety and speed for all participants. The circuit’s width exceeds 30 feet, providing ample space for thrilling overtakes while maintaining clear visibility around corners. Racing takes place in a clockwise direction, bounded by white lines to define the racing area.
The club has secured European Open Race Meeting status, welcoming competitors from FIM Europe Affiliated Federations with valid 2026 Road Race licences and start permission that includes medical and repatriation insurance coverage. This international flair adds an extra layer of excitement for both riders and spectators.
Throughout the season, there are special events such as a Sidecar Festival in April, a Scooter weekend in May, and ACU Ultra-lightweights competition in September. Each event offers unique attractions and activities tailored to enthusiasts of different motorcycle types and styles.
The race schedule includes two races on Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning, each consisting of ten laps around the circuit. Additional support or handicap races may be added based on participation levels and time availability. Practice sessions begin early in the mornings with technical inspections starting at 7:30 AM for both days.
Competitors must adhere to strict rules regarding safety equipment, including rain lights as per ACU guidelines, and practice discipline. Onboard cameras are not permitted during races or practices to maintain a focus on rider performance and spectator enjoyment without distractions.
