Nestled along the picturesque coastline of Scotland, the Waid Academy Race offers runners a scenic and challenging course that showcases both coastal beauty and historic charm. This Scottish Athletics permit event adheres to UK Athletics rules, ensuring a fair and well-organized race experience.
The 10K route is designed for speed with its fast out-and-back format, allowing participants to navigate the terrain efficiently while enjoying breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape. The course begins behind the Co-operative store at precisely 11 am, providing runners ample time to warm up before setting off on their journey. Race numbers will be available from 09:30 AM in the Waid main building for those who have pre-registered.
Entry fees are set at £20 for unattached participants and £17 for members of Scottish Athletics Federation (S.A.F). On-the-day entries, if still available up to 10:30 am, will cost slightly more at £22 for unattached runners and £19 for S.A.F. members.
This year's event places a strong emphasis on sustainability by eliminating traditional medals in favor of eco-friendly gifts given to all finishers upon completion. The prize list is generously sponsored by Anstruther Fish Bar, rewarding the top three male and female overall winners as well as the first-place team (with at least three runners counted) from each age category with a minimum of three entrants.
Age categories are divided into Junior (17-19), Senior (20-39), Veteran (40-49), Super-Veteran (50-59), Vintage (60-69), and Super-Vintage (70+).
For those looking for a more relaxed option, the 1K Family Fun Run takes place on the safe grounds of Waid Academy playing fields around noon. This event provides an excellent opportunity for families to enjoy running together in a supportive environment.
Participants can expect their personal information, including names and race times, to be published as part of the results and shared with governing bodies or affiliated organizations for insurance purposes, licensing requirements, or result publication comparisons across events.
