Eastern Grind XC MTB Race at von Trapp Family Outdoor Center
About the Event
Welcome to the 2026 Eastern Grind Race, hosted at Trapps Family Lodge in Stowe, Vermont. This race promises an exhilarating singletrack experience with just enough double track for variety. The course is approximately 11.5 miles long and features around 1,500 feet of climbing per lap. Race conditions will be held rain or shine, though cancellations may occur due to severe weather or trail conditions. Participants should prepare accordingly. This event supports the Bicycle Express Junior Team as a fundraiser, offering a unique opportunity for racers while contributing positively to local youth cycling programs. Please note that USA Cycling licenses are not required for this race, and it has been permitted by USA Cycling as a non-competitive event. Race results will not count towards any qualifications or rankings with USA Cycling. Dogs are strictly prohibited at the event site and on von Trapp Family Lodge property to ensure a safe environment for all participants. To secure your spot, pre-registration is highly recommended due to limited day-of registration options, which can lead to inefficiencies. Day-of registration fees include an entry fee plus $70. A course map will be available soon, providing detailed information about the layout and challenges ahead. For those eager to explore the terrain before race day, a von Trapps Outdoor Center Trail Pass is required for pre-riding. The pass costs $15 per adult, $8 for children aged 6 to 12, and $12 for seniors over 65. VMBA members can enjoy a discounted rate of two passes for the price of one. The race course will challenge participants with twists, rocks, berms, and loose conditions throughout key sections such as Tapline, Growler, Shredder, Kimmer's, Hardy Haul, Haulapalooza (section only), Luce Trail, and Lodge Spur.
