About the Event

The Huntington Relay Race is an annual marathon relay event that brings together athletes of all ages to support medical research against Huntington's disease. Each adult team comprises six runners who collectively cover the full 42.195 km distance, with a total of 300 teams participating this year.
In addition to the main race, there are two other categories designed for younger participants: an Ekiden Children’s Race and a new Adolescent category introduced in 2023. The children's event welcomes 60 teams from primary schools and sports associations, with each team consisting of six young runners aged between seven and eleven years old. They compete on a shorter loop measuring just over two kilometers.
For the first time this year, an Ekiden Adolescents Race has been added to cater for slightly older participants. This new category features 30 teams made up of teenagers covering five-kilometer loops around Cahors. Each team must have at least three adult supervisors accompanying them throughout the event.
The race starts on Charles de Gaulle Square in the heart of Cahors, setting a festive and engaging atmosphere as runners make their way through scenic streets lined with enthusiastic supporters cheering for each participant along the route. All proceeds from this unique relay marathon go directly to funding medical research against Huntington's disease, making every step count towards finding better treatments and ultimately a cure.
The event promises an inspiring day of camaraderie, athletic prowess, and community spirit as participants and spectators come together in support of such an important cause.
All funds raised from the race will be donated entirely to advancing medical research focused on Huntington's disease, ensuring that every stride contributes meaningfully towards improving lives affected by this genetic disorder.
