Ekiden de Touraine 2027

Touraine’s Ekiden Race, now in its 22nd edition, has grown from an initiative by ASPTT-Tours to become one of the premier events in Indre-et-Loire. Since its inception in Ballan-Miré in 2004, it has gained significant recognition beyond the Centre-Val de Loire region and was chosen as a venue for the French Ekiden Championships twice—in 2009 and again in 2012.
In recent years, the event’s popularity has continued to soar. In 2026 alone, an impressive 365 teams participated, showcasing its importance within national athletics circles. It now ranks among the top five Ekidens nationally and is part of the "National Series Ekiden" organized by the French Athletics Federation (FFA). Teams must ensure that all six members are FFA-licensed to qualify for discounted entry rates.
The race follows a traditional relay format with each runner covering specific distances:

Participants will gather at the Parc Beauverger in Ballan-Miré on March 21st, starting promptly at 9:30 AM for a day filled with camaraderie and competition.
The event offers various categories to cater to different types of teams:
- Club Men: All-male teams from the same club.
- Club Women: All-female teams from the same club (U18 to Masters).
- Mixed Club Teams: Three women and three men from a single club.
- Corporate/Institutional Teams: Groups representing companies, cities, or administrative bodies.
- Associations/Friendship Clubs: Teams with unique names or affiliations.
To secure your place in this prestigious event, each participant must provide proof of their FFA license along with evidence that they have completed the Health Prevention Pass (PPS) within the past year. This new requirement ensures all runners are fit and prepared for a day of rigorous competition on scenic routes through Touraine’s countryside.
