Emancipation Day TIMED Run/Walk 2026

On August 22, 2026, the Emancipation Run/Walk will honor the legacy of those who fought for freedom and shine light on ongoing issues. This event, organized by BLM - In This TOGETHER, aims to educate participants about slavery's past and its lasting impacts on health disparities among people of African ancestry.
The run/walk begins at 10 Cherry Brook Road in Cherry Brook, Nova Scotia, adjacent to the Black Cultural Centre. Runners will embark from this historic site, following a scenic route through local landscapes before reaching Loon Lake Road. A turn around point is strategically placed here for those who wish to complete just half the distance.
Participants can enjoy a leisurely 5K walk or push themselves with an exhilarating run along well-marked paths. The race concludes at the starting location, where a celebratory event will take place, offering participants a chance to connect and share experiences.
Registration is free for both walkers and runners, making this a perfect opportunity to contribute positively while raising awareness about important social issues. T-shirts are available for purchase on-site starting from $10.00 to $25.00—though they won't be included in the race kit.
