This unique 20-mile journey unfolds on the grounds of Debden Airfield, an expanse that offers runners both speed and tranquility. The course itself is a fast, flat tarmac track designed for five laps around the airfield’s perimeter. With no sharp corners to slow you down, this layout provides ideal conditions for setting personal bests or simply enjoying a scenic run with friends. The surrounding tree-lined paths create a protective barrier against wind gusts, ensuring that runners experience minimal resistance throughout their journey. Debden Airfield's rich history adds an extra layer of appeal to the race day atmosphere. As you navigate this historic site, the blend of past and present creates a truly memorable running experience. Whether you're aiming for top honors or just looking to have fun, the Essex 20 offers something special for everyone. This event doubles as both the Inter-counties 20-mile road race championships and the Essex County Road Running Championships, promising fierce competition among elite runners while still welcoming all participants with open arms. If you are eligible for these prestigious titles, make sure to register through the dedicated championship page when it becomes available soon. Running isn't just about crossing the finish line; it's also an opportunity to give back and support a cause that matters.
