Falkland Hill Race returns on Saturday, July 25th, 2026, offering runners an exhilarating journey through the picturesque landscapes of Fife. This challenging multi-terrain race combines stunning views with some of the region's finest running trails. Scheduled to start at 11:00am, participants will gather in Tyndal Bruce Park, located off A912 a few hundred meters north of Falkland Town Centre. The park serves as both the starting point and finish line for this event, which is part of the larger Falkland Gala day festivities. The race route remains largely unchanged from previous years, covering just under 6 miles through diverse terrain that includes hard paths, grass fields, land-rover tracks, and open hillside. As runners ascend to the summit of Falkland Hill, they'll climb more than 400 meters in elevation, with steep sections both up and down adding an extra layer of challenge. Given its hilly nature, proper preparation is key. Participants are advised to carry essential items such as windproof clothing, waterproof gear, a hat, gloves, map, compass, whistle, food, and any other protective equipment deemed necessary for safety in unpredictable weather conditions. Parking options include the Gala Field, Falkland Memorial Hall, and a new car park near Pillars of Hercules. Due to expected high traffic in the village, organizers recommend car-sharing or parking with consideration. No changing facilities will be provided at the event site, so runners are encouraged to arrive dressed and ready for their race experience. Additionally, no baggage storage is available; entrants should make arrangements accordingly if they have belongings that need secure keeping during the day. Race registration numbers can be collected from 9:00am onwards at the Falkland Trail Runners Gazebo in the event field. It's important to pin your number to the front of your race t-shirt and fill out medical details on the back before starting. Prizes will be awarded to the top three finishers in both male and female categories, as well as winners in age-specific groups: Over 40, Over 50, Over 60, and Over 70. Prize giving occurs immediately after race completion, followed by online posting of full results on the following day. For any inquiries or further details, contact Race Director Kevin Murray at 07918 693687. This event promises an unforgettable blend of scenic beauty and athletic challenge for all who participate.
