The Liberty Creek High School Race League is back, offering young athletes from PreK through fifth grade an exciting opportunity to compete and enjoy running. The league welcomes participants from all schools and counties across the region, making it accessible for any child who wants to take part. For the youngest racers in the Pre-K division, a 1/4 mile course awaits them at Liberty Creek High School on August 23rd, 30th, September 20th, and 27th. As they progress through elementary school, K-2nd graders will tackle half-mile distances during their races, while the more experienced 3rd to 5th grade runners will face a full mile challenge. Each race day offers multiple events starting in the afternoon with Pre-K boys and girls taking on the track at 2:00 pm. The top ten finishers earn medals for their efforts. Following that, K-2nd Grade girls compete at 2:30 pm, where the top fifteen receive recognition through medals, while trophies are awarded to the best three teams based on cumulative placements of a school's top five runners. The competition heats up with boys from the same grade level racing at 3:00 pm. This event also rewards the top fifteen finishers and recognizes the leading schools in team standings. As the day progresses, older students step onto the track for their turn to shine. At 3:30 pm, girls aged between third and fifth grades take center stage with medals going to the first fifteen across the line. The league concludes each race day around 4:15 pm when boys in the same age group sprint towards victory. Like previous races, this event honors individual achievement by awarding top finishers while also celebrating school success through team trophies based on cumulative rankings of a school's leading five runners. To ensure smooth operations and efficient registration processes, online entry costs $12 per race or all four races for just $40. Race day registrations are still possible but will incur an additional fee of $15 to accommodate last-minute entries.
