Experience the 12th annual Fargo Sub-48 Bike Packing Adventure from September 25 to 27, 2026. Nestled amidst the picturesque northern Michigan landscapes, this adventure promises an unforgettable journey through scenic routes and remote campgrounds. Participants will navigate approximately 40 to 50 miles on day one, followed by a more relaxed 20 to 30-mile route on day two. The challenge includes carrying all necessary gear, including camping supplies, water, energy food, tools, and tubes. A GPS device is essential for navigation; maps are provided but the routes will not be marked. The terrain varies from rolling dirt roads and seasonal trails to some paved sections, making it a diverse test of endurance and skill. Two-inch or wider tires are recommended due to the sandy nature of Michigan's roads and singletrack conditions. Riders should have basic bike repair skills as assistance may not always be available. This event is designed for seasoned cyclists who can handle up to 50 miles with a loaded bike, navigating through varied road conditions. The adventure includes two nights of camping in tent or hammock style only; motorhomes are not permitted. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are provided each day, along with refreshments like beer and seltzers. Registration opens on April 25, 2026, at 9 am EST exclusively through Bikereg. With a limited capacity of just 140 participants, the event typically sells out within minutes. Past participants will receive an email reminder about registration details. The weekend itinerary includes check-in and social events starting from Friday afternoon with bonfires and beverages followed by breakfast, rider meetings, and departure for rides on Saturday morning. Aid stations offer sandwiches or pizza, chips, water, bars, gels, fruit, and snacks throughout the day. Post-ride meals include full dinners, Sarah Lee pies, and plenty of firewood for social gatherings. Sunday involves a shorter ride back to the original campsite followed by breakfast before riders depart on their own schedules. Course maps and GPS routes are provided, ensuring participants have all necessary information to enjoy this unique adventure. Mark your calendars for September 25-27, 2026, as you embark on an extraordinary bike packing journey in northern Michigan's breathtaking landscapes.
