Immerse yourself in the rugged and wild beauty of Fermanagh on the day of the FEAR multi-sport competition. This challenging race combines cycling, trail running, and kayaking through some of Ireland’s most striking landscapes. The journey begins with a scenic 10.2-kilometer cycle from Knockmore to Lough Shore, where you'll encounter quiet back roads that wind their way across limestone terrain sculpted by ancient ice ages. The route offers more ascents than descents, providing an exhilarating challenge for cyclists and runners alike. Next up is the Wee Dog Jog, a 7-kilometer trail run through the heart of Fermanagh’s natural beauty. Participants then transition to their bikes once again, cycling back towards Lough Shore where they'll tackle another leg that includes both flat and hilly sections totaling around 34 kilometers in total distance. The race takes an aquatic turn as competitors paddle for two kilometers along the rocky shores of Lough Erne, adding a unique element to this already diverse competition. After emerging from the water refreshed but ready for more, runners face one of FEAR’s most iconic challenges: The Magho Cliff Challenge. This near-vertical ascent covers 1,000 feet in just over a kilometer and offers breathtaking views at its summit. The race concludes with an exhilarating downhill run followed by another leg on the bike as participants cycle back to the finish line via Lough Shore towards the pub door for one final push of around 13.6 kilometers. For those opting for the shorter route, all elements remain but scaled down slightly in distance and intensity while retaining their core challenges and scenic beauty. Participants can compete either individually or part of a team aiming to secure top honors among both individuals and groups. Winners will be awarded trophies with an additional prize voucher going exclusively to first place finishers across each category. Adding further appeal, participants have the option to purchase XCover insurance which provides peace of mind by offering potential refunds should unforeseen circumstances prevent attendance on race day. Join FEAR this year and become a part of Fermanagh’s rich folklore as you conquer its challenging terrains and waterways.
