Experience the Festival of Cycling as it returns for its 11th year, offering cyclists an array of challenging routes through South Leicestershire’s picturesque countryside. This year, you can choose between four distinct distance options: two road races (50k and 100k) or two off-road adventures (40k and 70k), catering to both road enthusiasts and mountain bikers. The newly designed routes wind through rolling hills and scenic tracks, providing a mix of terrain that will test your endurance. For the road cyclists, yellow Cycle Route signs and ground markings with spray paint ensure clear navigation throughout the course. Meanwhile, off-road riders can rely on detailed GPX files and black arrows, as well as black and yellow tape to guide them along the less marked trails. Entry fees for each route are set at £35, offering a hot meal post-ride in the form of pizza with vegan and gluten-free options available. Registration opens shortly, allowing you ample time to secure your spot before entries close two days prior to the event. Should you need to switch distances, simply email info@raceharborough.co.uk up until one week before race day. E-bikes are welcome at this year’s festival under British Cycling guidelines: they must have pedals that can propel them independently and be equipped with an electric motor not exceeding 250 watts continuous power. Additionally, the motor should cut off assistance once the bike reaches a speed of 15.5 miles per hour. The event kicks off from Kibworth Mead Academy at Smeeton Road in Kibworth, Leicester (LE8 0LG), with riders able to begin their journey as early as 08:00. Professional first aid will be available throughout the start and finish lines, ensuring safety for all participants. Along each route, a feed station halfway through offers sustenance including food and hot/cold drinks designed to keep your energy levels high during this demanding race. All finishers are rewarded with bespoke event medals celebrating their achievement.
