On October 31, 2026, runners will gather at the North Augusta Greenway to participate in the tenth edition of FireK! This year's race features both a 5K and a 10K run, offering something for everyone from seasoned athletes to families looking for an engaging day out.
The event kicks off early with the start of the 10K race at 9:00 AM, followed closely by the 5K runners taking their mark just fifteen minutes later. Fire departments across the region are invited to form teams and compete in the shorter distance event, vying for bragging rights and a special trophy.
The North Augusta Greenway transforms into a vibrant hub of activities as participants make their way through scenic paths lined with fire apparatus on display. Children can enjoy the "Kid's Fun Zone," complete with superhero-themed games and entertainment to keep them engaged throughout the day. A live DJ adds an energetic soundtrack, while families can take advantage of free hotdogs at lunchtime.

Since 2015, occupational cancer has become the leading cause of death among first responders, with studies showing a significant increase in risk compared to civilian counterparts.
