Firle 5km Handicap Trail Race

Immerse yourself in a unique running experience at Firle’s 5km handicap trail run! This innovative race aims to provide an equal playing field for runners of all abilities by starting the slowest participant first and the fastest last. To participate, you’ll need to submit your most recent race or parkrun time upon registration.
The event takes place along The Old Coach Road track in Firle, offering breathtaking views of the South Downs as it winds through undulating terrain. The majority of the route (90%) follows a challenging trail with some sections on hard-packed paths and quiet country lanes, making for an engaging and scenic run.
Upon completion, enjoy post-race refreshments including tea and cake at Firle Village Hall, where you can also find toilets, changing facilities, and parking. Prizes will be awarded to the top three finishers in a ceremony that follows immediately after the race concludes.
Registration opens at 8:30 am, with the race starting promptly at 9:30 am. With only 50 spots available for this exclusive event, early sign-up is advised. Maps of the course are provided upon request to help you prepare and navigate effectively on race day.
Please note that running with dogs is not permitted due to safety concerns along the trail route. This ensures a fair and safe environment for all participants.
