Please review the handbook in its entirety: 2025 Handbook
Races begin and end at the same place and begin at the same time.
Thanks to your support, we have sold out the event for the last three years. We hope to have a full house again in 2026, but also want to keep the race small enough to have the family / homegrown / grassroots feel we love. For this reason, we will cap the event. If you know you want to join in, please sign up early to make sure you get a spot. Thanks!
Remember when running was just… running?! Same. We’re big fans of grassroots ultras, so we’re going back to our roots & bringing you guys one heck of a fun, down-to-earth, no-frills, chill, good old-fashioned trail race! We’re keeping the prices as low as we can, but the stoke as high as possible! So come on out to Georgia, kick back for a day of Southern hospitality and epic racing on sweet Southeastern single track! (Say that 3x fast.)
Are you itching to try your hand -err- legs at trail or ultrarunning? Or maybe you're on the hunt for a trail PR? THE 50K & HALF MIGHT JUST BE THE RACE FOR YOU. If you're looking for epic vistas or mega climbs and descents on mountains, that's not this! Flatrock 50k & half is as good as it can get for your first ultra or trail race. Though it is definitely still a TRAIL race, and you will absolutely need to be able to read a map, follow markings, and pay attention, the trails here hit the sweet spot of flowing with hills that are just challenging enough to keep it interesting, while still allowing runners to throw down some fast times! This is a true trail race! The route will take runners through undulating trails winding through miles upon miles of trees. The trails are not technical. As for the hills, they’re nothing that will take you longer than a minute or two to climb! All races will utilize a combination of the same pink and blue loops, and there is only ONE aid station you pass every 6-7 miles, so this is a great ultra to self crew, have your fam & friends cheer you on, and to break up the mileage one chunk at a time! Cutoffs for each distance: 50k - 9 hours 13.2 - 5 hours 50/50 - 9 hours STRICT cutoff. REMINDER: The 50 Mile challenge is incredibly difficult, and no one has been able to complete it yet, even very fast and capable runner! You will have the option to drop down to the 50k before going for the challenge... choose wisely! (Complete details below & on site.)
Now for the REAL fun… Attention all you speedsters out there: If you're feeling lucky or you're hungry for a challenge, you can choose to sign up for the 50/50 challenge. This is NOT for the faint of heart, and NOT for the folks taking their time. The 50/50 challenge is incredibly tough, and so far we have only had one runner even come close to finishing it! If you choose this option, when you complete your 50k, you will have the option of either keeping the 50k finish OR continuing for another 20 miles to snag a 50 MILE FINISH. The challenge? YOU MUST COMPLETE THE 50 MILES WITHIN THE 50K's 9 HOUR STRICT CUTOFF! And once you commit, you’re locked in! If you don't? You get ZERO credit for either distance. If you do? You get a super exclusive 50/50 challenge shirt & a free entry to come back and run again next year! Think you got what it takes? It's not easy, that's for sure. No one has officially completed it yet, though one has come close. Many say it's impossible. We'll see!
We're all about including family and friends for the fun. So if you've got kids, bring ‘em on out! Harbins Park boasts an awesome playground that'll keep the kids entertained while you channel your inner trail beast. You'll pass by the start/finish line which is also serves as our one stop big aid station, every 6-7 miles. The frequent check-ins will give your personal cheer squad ample opps to shower you with love and encouragement and help keep you moving!
All entrants receive Flatrock race item to commemorate their race (we've done socks, buffs, or sunglasses in the past)! 50/50 challenge runners receive a shirt upon completion of the challenge. Complimentary race photos will be available to download and share. The Flatrock hoodie is available for purchase on event website. If there are additional hoodies they will be available for purchase via cash or venmo on race day. Awards: Top M/F in each race will receive an award and free entry to the event the following year.
If life throws you a curveball, fear not! We've got a flexible refund policy. Full entry return via race credit is available until 7/1, and even after that, you can still snag a half-entry race credit until 9/1. We've got your back, even if you end up having to pass the torch (or, in this case, the race entry) to another eager participant… WE DO ALLOW BIB TRANSFERS FOR A SMALL FEE! Please contact for instructions to have your race transferred to another athlete.
