Experience the ultimate challenge at the Duro MTB Classic, where riders tackle an impressive 100 miles of diverse terrain across eight trail systems. Starting from the serene Dorrance Forest Preserve in Port Byron, IL, participants will traverse through a mix of pavement and singletrack trails before reaching Westbrook Park in Dewitt, IA. The route weaves its way through some of the area’s most scenic landscapes, including the challenging Dorrance Trail System, the technical Illiniwek Trails, and the picturesque Scott County Park. Highlights include the fun grass section around Lost Grove Lake on your journey to Scott County Park—each trail offering a unique test for both body and mind. For those seeking less of an endurance challenge, there’s also the option to participate in the DIRT Duro, which covers approximately 40 miles of singletrack trails. This shorter route still promises a rewarding day out with nature, providing ample opportunity to explore some of the best local paths. Whether you’re ready for the full 100-mile adventure or just looking to ride what you can manage, this event caters to all levels of experience and fitness. A riders' meeting at 6:50 AM in the shelter will ensure everyone has a clear understanding of the route and any last-minute information. The Duro MTB Classic is not only about pushing your limits but also enjoying the camaraderie among fellow cyclists. This semi-supported ride offers refueling opportunities, including a station at Healthy Habits midway through the course, as well as access to numerous stores along the way for additional support. This year’s event has increased its self-sufficiency requirements; therefore, it is essential to bring all necessary tools and spares for a full day. Additionally, having a friend on call who can assist with mechanical issues or other problems is highly recommended—ideally someone riding the DIRT Duro route nearby. Rain date set for October 3rd ensures that no one misses out due to unexpected weather conditions. However, participation in this event requires membership in FORC (please check their website for details). Join us at the Duro MTB Classic and discover why it’s considered one of the toughest days on a bike in the region—where every mile is an adventure waiting to be conquered.
