Forgotten Forest Ultra Run

Nestled within Roosevelt Forest, The Forgotten Forest 9-Hour Ultra Run is a unique endurance challenge set to take place on Saturday, May 16, 2026. This intimate race offers runners the chance to explore the scenic trails of Stratford, Connecticut, from early morning until late afternoon.
The event takes place within Roosevelt Forest's sprawling woodland area and features a meticulously designed course that showcases New England’s rugged terrain. Runners will navigate a challenging loop measuring 2.2 miles in length, which includes single-track paths winding through dense foliage and double-track trails offering glimpses of the surrounding forest. Each lap presents runners with an elevation gain of around 131 feet, incorporating rolling hills, rocky outcrops, wooden bridges, and roots that test both speed and agility.
The race format allows for flexibility in distance goals within a strict time limit. Participants can opt to complete multiple loops over nine hours or aim for specific distances like the marathon (26.2 miles) or 50k mark. This setup caters to runners looking to refine their pacing skills ahead of longer summer ultramarathons.
Logistical details are carefully managed to maintain a personal race atmosphere and adhere to forest regulations. The event is limited to just 50 participants, ensuring ample space on the trails for each runner to focus on their performance without distraction. A centralized aid station at the main pavilion provides essential hydration and food options, while designated picnic areas allow runners to set up small tables or canopies for additional support.
Pacers are permitted after the seven-hour mark (3:30 PM), with an option for earlier pacing starting at 12:30 PM available upon payment of a fee. All pacers must sign a waiver and wear wristbands, ensuring compliance with race rules to avoid disqualification. Registration is final with no refunds, transfers, or deferrals.
To enhance the experience further, participants receive various swag items as part of their entry package, including non-alcoholic beverages from event sponsors. Race t-shirts are also available for purchase during registration. Awards will be presented at the finish line to the top three male and female runners based on total mileage achieved by the 5:30 PM cutoff.
