Fort Frenzy Ultra Festival is an endurance race that challenges runners with breathtaking views and diverse terrain around Fort Loudon State Historic Park on Tellico Lake, located in Vonore, Tennessee. This unique event offers several distance options, including a 50k qualifier for the prestigious Cherokee Ultra, ensuring there's something to suit every level of runner. The course itself is a scenic 3.65-mile loop with nearly 500 feet of elevation gain per lap, winding around Tellico Lake and offering stunning vistas throughout each rotation. The trail system is well-maintained and almost entirely on natural surface paths, making it ideal for both seasoned ultrarunners and beginners looking to test their endurance. In addition to the traditional running events, Fort Frenzy introduces a new 6-hour ruck division in 2024, where participants carry weighted backpacks—men with up to 30 pounds, women with up to 20 pounds. Each finisher receives a custom patch as recognition of their achievement. This year's event includes the opportunity for runners who complete both Fort Frenzy Ultra Festival and Three Sisters Ultra Festival in 24 hours to receive an exclusive TN Double Ultra Festival plaque that holds two medals designed to interlock, creating a unique keepsake commemorating this feat. The overall winner of the 24-hour race will also earn a $500 cash prize from UnRunning if they break the existing course record set at 113.15 miles. Registration for Fort Frenzy Ultra Festival opens on August 15th, with packet pickup available starting July 15th to ensure all participants receive their custom race shirts and other swag items. Finisher awards are given to everyone who completes the distance they register for, while top three male and female finishers in each category will also take home medals. The event is designed not only as a competitive challenge but also as an inclusive family-friendly experience where friends and loved ones can cheer on participants throughout their journey around Tellico Lake. For those interested in pacing others during the 12-hour or 24-hour races, pacers are allowed after six hours of racing time. Fort Frenzy Ultra Festival promises to be a memorable adventure for all who dare to take part, with its rich history and beautiful surroundings providing an unforgettable backdrop against which runners can push their limits.
