The ARIs Galway Team Adventure Race, scheduled for August 15th, 2026, invites thrill-seekers and adventure enthusiasts to Kinvara. This exciting race offers two distinct courses tailored to different levels of experience.
For the Sprint Race (4-5 hours), newcomers can look forward to an accessible challenge with easy navigation and a variety of bike types allowed. The event kicks off at 10:00 AM, featuring a registration period from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM and a race briefing at 10:45 AM. Juniors will compete on the same sprint course.
The Endurance Race (8 hours) is designed for those seeking more of a challenge. Registration opens at 9:00 AM, with a pre-race briefing starting at 9:45 AM and the race beginning promptly at 10:00 AM. This event emphasizes navigation skills using only paper maps and compasses.
Participants must adhere to strict rules prohibiting any electronic devices for navigation purposes during both races. Teams will receive mandatory kit details upon registration, including SUP boards, life jackets, and paddles provided by organizers. Additional equipment can be sourced from friends or family if needed.
The race promises a mix of forest orienteering and road biking, with an optional sea stand-up paddle (SUP) section based on weather conditions. Detailed route information will be shared at the start line after kit checks are completed.
Race HQ in Kinvara offers parking facilities along with showers for participants to freshen up post-race. Prize giving is scheduled for 6:30 PM, rewarding winning teams across male, female, mixed, and junior categories within each race distance.
To enter this event, all competitors must hold a current 2026 membership of the Adventure Racing Ireland (ARI). Organizers strongly advise arriving at least one hour before your designated start time to ensure smooth registration and preparation.
