Nestled in the heart of Lacombe, Louisiana, the Gator Tail Race Series offers runners an unforgettable experience through diverse terrain and scenic routes. Whether you're a seasoned trail runner or just looking for fun on foot, this race series has something to offer everyone. Packet Pickup Prepare for your adventure at Northshore Technical Community College in Lacombe. Packet pickup is available from Thursday, October 15th, between 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM, and Friday, October 16th, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM. On race day, Saturday, October 17th, packets will be ready starting at 7:30 AM in the lobby of the main building with flagpoles out front. Race Day Preparations On the morning of the event, parking is conveniently located on Centerpoint Blvd., right outside the campus buildings. Be sure to arrive early for race day registration and packet pickup from 7:30 AM until 8:00 AM. With rain in mind, be prepared for muddy conditions along parts of the course. The Course For those looking for a shorter distance, the Gator Gallop offers a half-mile run through sandy fields that may become quite muddy depending on weather conditions leading up to race day. The more adventurous can opt for the 5k Trail Run or the 1-Mile Fun Run, both of which begin at Northshore Technical Community College. The 5K course takes runners through varied terrain including gravel paths and dirt trails winding around the wooded area next to the campus and looping around the southwest perimeter of Tamanend development. Short stretches of pavement break up the trail runs before returning back into the woods. Three water stations are strategically placed along the route, ensuring hydration throughout. Awards & Recognition All 5k runners will receive a race participation medal and t-shirt upon completion. Prizes for first through third place male and female participants add an extra layer of excitement to this challenging course. Similarly, all Gator Gallop runners will earn a medal and shirt with additional prizes awarded based on gender. Virtual Option Can't make it in person? Opt for the virtual race option! Complete your run at any location that suits you best, then receive your t-shirt and participation medal by mail after the event. While times won’t factor into official rankings, this is a great way to still be part of the fun.
