About the Event
The Generation Homes Monster MTB Challenge is an exciting mountain biking event tailored for young cyclists aged up to 13 years old. Organized by St Patrick's Catholic School PTFA alongside Bike Taupo, this fun-filled day at Craters Mountain Bike Park offers a thrilling experience for children of all skill levels. Set against the backdrop of Taupo’s scenic landscape, the event takes place on October 31st and promises an afternoon packed with adventure. Participants can register from 11am in the car park at Craters MTB Park, ensuring they have plenty of time to prepare before the race starts. The day kicks off with a detailed briefing for all participants involved in the Classic, Mini, and Mega categories starting at 12:15pm. The Monster Classic riders will set out first at 12:30pm, followed by the BME Mini Monster racers just fifteen minutes later. The contact Mega Monster race begins at 1:45pm, while a separate briefing for the Total Sport Micro Monster takes place shortly after at 1:55pm before their start time of 2pm. Each participant receives a medal upon finishing their course, fostering a sense of accomplishment and camaraderie among all riders. Trophies are awarded to the top three boys and girls in each timed category—Classic, Mini, and Mega—to celebrate exceptional performance on the trails. Additionally, spot prizes add an extra layer of excitement for those who might not take home a trophy but still shine during their ride. Entry fees vary depending on when you register: $35 until April 30th or $40 from May 1st up to May 15th at 9pm. Walk-up entries are available the day of the event for $40, payable in cash only between 8am and 9:30am. For those participating in the Total Sport Micro Monster Mash, entry is a more affordable $15. Families can enjoy an added benefit with discounted rates when registering two or more children together—$5 off each entry fee for Classic, Mini, and Mega categories only. This event not only encourages young riders to push their limits but also ensures everyone leaves with memorable experiences on the trails of Craters Mountain Bike Park.
