About the Event

The Get Your Kicks on Route 66 Run/Walk returns to St. Robert, Missouri on June 6th, marking a century of celebration along the iconic highway that stretches through American history. This year's event is not just another race; it’s a journey back in time as runners and walkers traverse the historic landscape under the glow of neon lights at Neon Park, located at 133 Reed Parkway.
As dusk falls on the evening of June 6th, St. Robert transforms into a vibrant tapestry of light and sound, with Route 66 cutting through like an artery pulsing with vitality. The air carries hints of summer’s warmth mixed with the coolness of early evening breezes, setting the stage for runners to experience both the nostalgia and modernity intertwined in this historic run/walk event. Neon lights flicker along Reed Parkway, casting a colorful glow on participants as they make their way through familiar streets and landmarks that have stood witness to generations of travelers.
For its 100th anniversary, the Get Your Kicks on Route 66 Run/Walk continues to honor tradition while embracing innovation. Over the years, this event has grown from a local gathering into a beloved community fixture, drawing runners far beyond St. Robert’s borders and celebrating not only physical achievement but also social cohesion. Proceeds raised go directly to supporting the Pulaski County Voice, an organization dedicated to providing essential services for individuals with developmental disabilities who face funding shortages elsewhere. This race is more than just steps on a pavement; it's about fostering connections between people within their community and beyond.
The Get Your Kicks on Route 66 Run/Walk unfolds along the well-known stretches of Route 66, offering participants two distance options: the shorter yet challenging 3.3 Miler (5.3K) or the full-length adventure of the 6.6 Miler (10.6K). Each route is carefully mapped to highlight both the storied landmarks and the newer developments that dot this legendary road. Runners will encounter a mix of hard-packed surfaces, offering an invigorating blend of terrain underfoot.
Race day kicks off promptly at 6:00 p.m., with runners gathering near Neon Park for the start line. The course layout includes several aid stations strategically placed along the way to provide water and energy boosts as needed. As evening progresses into nightfall, participants will navigate around familiar neighborhoods and past iconic Route 66 signs that have become symbols of perseverance and spirit.
Weather conditions on race day are expected to be typical for mid-June in St. Robert, Missouri. With temperatures hovering comfortably between an average high of 29.5°C and a low of 18.4°C, the evening air will feel warm yet refreshing under clear skies and little chance of rain. Trail conditions remain hard and dry, ensuring that runners can focus on their journey without worrying about slippery paths or unpredictable weather.
