The Goose Fair Gallop, an annual 10k race organized by Kimberley & District Striders (KADS), returns for its thirty-ninth edition on Sunday, October 11th, 2026. This beloved event has been a cornerstone of the KADS calendar since 1987 and continues to grow in popularity with each passing year. Registration is highly recommended as this race typically sells out within days due to its limited capacity of 350 participants. Last year saw all spots fill up less than eight days after registration opened, so early action is advised. However, if you miss the initial sign-up period, there’s still a waiting list where many runners have secured their places. The race course offers an enjoyable and scenic experience with its flat terrain that showcases stunning views of the surrounding area. Participants can expect to traverse various surfaces including canal paths, gravel trails, unkept pathways, and smooth pavement throughout the 10km route. The event staff are dedicated to ensuring a safe and supportive atmosphere for all runners. This year’s race will be based at the newly established visitors center near Bennerley Viaduct, which features an eagerly awaited ramp that promises easier access to the starting line. Participants can anticipate clear skies allowing them to fully appreciate the breathtaking scenery along their journey. Race day begins with a 10:00 am mass start from the Bennerley Viaduct Visitors Centre off Shilo Way in Awsworth (NG16 2BF). A chip timing system will be used for accurate results, though these times won't appear on ranking platforms like Run Britain due to slight course variations. For parking, head towards Birnam Park via the A610 and use postcode NG16 2DE. The car park is expected to close at 9:30 am sharp, so ensure you arrive early enough to secure your spot. Remember that there will be no parking available near the visitors center itself. Participants must register through Entry Central before race day as part of our efforts to maintain proper EA affiliation information and facilitate easy transfers if necessary (see policy HERE). The entry fee covers a custom-designed technical t-shirt and a shiny medal for all finishers, provided you complete your registration with accurate size details in advance. Safety is paramount during the event; therefore, headphones are discouraged except for bone conductor styles that allow awareness of surroundings and instructions from marshals. Over-the-ear headphones or devices playing music out loud could lead to disqualification if deemed unsafe. Additional guidelines include a suggested pace of under 1 hour 40 minutes (approximately 16 min/mile) due to the lack of road closures, ensuring all runners can finish without compromising public safety measures. Comprehensive terms and conditions are available on our website for further information regarding entry requirements and policies. Join Kimberley & District Striders as they celebrate another successful year with The Goose Fair Gallop – an event not to be missed by local running enthusiasts or visitors alike!
