The course is designed through the historic Pioneer Park, featuring both paved paths and natural trails along the coastal path. The Long Course offers 10 kilometers of varied terrain, while the Short Course provides runners with a challenging yet achievable five-kilometer route. Both courses pass by the picturesque beachfront, providing stunning views for all participants.
At the start line, competitors will have the option to choose between two courses: the long and demanding ten-kilometer path or the quicker but equally rewarding five-kilometer race. The finish is marked at Pioneer Park, with runners crossing a traditional archway before heading into the park itself where they can enjoy post-race refreshments.
Weather conditions on August 16th typically see an average temperature of 12.7°C, ranging between 9.6°C and 15.8°C, which feels quite comfortable due to low humidity at around 74%. A light breeze with typical wind speeds of 15.6 km/h means runners should stay well hydrated but won’t face challenging gusts.
The race offers a Free Kids' Dash for the youngest participants, followed by the Short Course and Long Course races. Registration is available via https://raceroster.com/events/2026/115046/granite-island-run with fees ranging from $30 to $55 based on course selection.
Bibs can be picked up at Pioneer Park during designated times, requiring participants to bring valid identification. The start location is Pioneer Park, Beach Parade, Victor Harbor 5239, Australia. Age requirements are open for all runners and walkers; first-timers should ensure they have appropriate running gear including proper footwear and a hydration plan.
