GRASMERE WILD TRAIL RUNS 2027

About the Event

Experience the breathtaking beauty of Grasmere, nestled among the rolling hills and serene lakes of Cumbria, during our annual Lake District Trail Runs. This March 2027 edition promises to be an unforgettable adventure with the introduction of a brand new Half Marathon route alongside the beloved 5km and 10km trail runs.
The event takes place over two days: Saturday, March 20th for the trail runs, and Sunday, March 21st for duathlons. The stunning setting around Grasmere Lake offers runners unparalleled scenery, with panoramic views of fells and mountains that have inspired poets like William Wordsworth to pen some of their most cherished works.
The Half Marathon route is a thrilling new addition this year, weaving through parts of picturesque Grasmere Village alongside the tranquil waters of Grasmere and Rydal Lakes. It then ventures into the heart of nature by passing Rydal Caves before looping around Loughrigg Fell to Ambleside Park and back to Rydal Water for an awe-inspiring finish.
For those who prefer a shorter distance, the 10km route offers a scenic journey through Grasmere Village and along its shimmering lake. It reaches its peak at Rydal Caves before returning via picturesque paths. The 5km run is ideal for beginners or anyone looking to enjoy a peaceful lap around Grasmere Water.
Cani-cross enthusiasts are welcome too, with one controlled dog per runner allowed on short leads throughout the event. A separate start time ensures smooth organization and safety for all participants.
Start times vary by distance: the Half Marathon begins at 9:45am, followed closely by the 10km run starting at 10:00am, and the 5km race kicking off at 9:50am. All runners will enjoy live chip timing provided by Timing Up North.
Upon crossing the finish line, participants are greeted with an event medal, Wild Deer merchandise, refreshments including drinks and snacks. An exclusive T-shirt is available for purchase during registration for just £14.
Limited on-site parking at The Showfield in Grasmere Village will be available for a small fee of £4; however, competitors may need to use nearby public car parks if the ground conditions are wet or the space fills up quickly.
Join us this March as we celebrate another year of trail running and multisport challenges amidst some of England's most stunning natural landscapes. Don't miss out on what promises to be a memorable event for runners, nature lovers, and cani-cross enthusiasts alike.
