Explore the picturesque landscapes of Plymouth, Vermont on August 2 with the Gravel Gallop bike ride organized by OMS. Departing from and returning to Plymouth State Park, this non-competitive self-guided adventure offers three route options: a scenic 9-mile loop for beginners, a challenging 32-mile journey for intermediate riders, and an epic 45-mile trek designed for seasoned cyclists. Each route weaves through diverse terrain, featuring smooth dirt roads that offer breathtaking views of Vermont's countryside. Be prepared for some steep climbs—nature at its most rugged but rewarding. The ride also includes sections with rougher surfaces, particularly on the longer routes where Old Turnpike towards Route 103 presents a test of skill and endurance. Plymouth State Park offers more than just stunning scenery; it provides day use access to all participants for free after your ride. Enjoy a refreshing dip in the lake or simply relax amidst nature's beauty before indulging in a delicious burrito lunch and seltzer provided by OMS. This event is perfect for those seeking an invigorating outdoor experience without the pressure of competition. Riders should bring ample water, as there are no aid stations along the route. Proper attire and gear are essential to navigate safely through varied conditions. For detailed navigation, download GPS routes from ridewithgps.com: visit OMS - Filly · Ride with GPS for the 9-mile loop; explore OMS Short Gallop 33 for a more moderate challenge; or tackle OMS Big Gallop 44 if you're up for an ambitious ride. Paper maps will also be available at the event. Questions? Reach out to Rick Trainer of Mountain Cycology via email at [email protected] with any inquiries. All proceeds from this event support local student-athlete financial assistance, making it a rewarding experience both on and off the bike.
