About the Event

Immerse yourself in the dynamic waters of Sacramento with the 7th annual Great American Triathlon, an iconic summer spectacle along the picturesque American River Parkway. This thrilling race offers competitors from all walks of life — whether you're a seasoned athlete or part of a family looking to start a new tradition — a chance to experience the beauty and challenge of California's natural landscapes.
The event kicks off with a spirited 5.8-mile run, tracing the riverbank from William B. Pond Park in Carmichael to Guy West Bridge at Sac State University. After cooling down on land, participants transition into their cycling gear for an exhilarating 12.5-mile bike ride along scenic routes that take them through Fair Oaks and culminate at Sunrise Bridge. The final leg of the race invites you onto the water with a 6.1-mile paddle from Sunrise Bridge to River Bend Park in Rancho Cordova.
Every participant enjoys exclusive perks such as a premium event tee, a finisher's medal, complimentary food truck vouchers, access to a lively beer garden featuring live entertainment, and free parking. Additionally, all racers receive race photos taken by professional photographers at no extra cost.
The Great American Triathlon caters to both individual competitors and relay teams with over 40 categories available for various skill levels. Space is limited to just 250 team entries and 600 solo participants, making early registration essential if you wish to secure a spot in this beloved community event that supports the American River Parkway Foundation and local children's charities.
