The GLER Ultra Series returns for its exciting second season, promising an unforgettable experience at Tulip Hill Picnic Area on the northeastern shore of Green Lake. The races kick off early with the 100K race starting at 6:00 AM, followed by the 50K and 25K races beginning at 7:00 AM and 8:00 AM respectively. Adding to this lineup is the GLER GALEFORCE 12-Hour Race, which commences simultaneously with the other events but extends well into the evening until 7 PM. The race courses are meticulously designed for a blend of challenge and enjoyment. Each fixed distance event—100K, 50K, and 25K—features an 8-mile loop that winds through diverse terrain, including shaded trails in upland forests with some technical sections due to roots and ruts, as well as rolling meadows known affectionately as the Serengeti. The lower lake section offers a respite from the steep ascents and descents, providing runners with flat, shaded paths along Green Lake. The 12-Hour Race takes place on a separate but equally scenic course around both Green and Round Lakes, allowing participants to circle these picturesque areas as many times as they can within their allotted time frame. This race is particularly suited for those looking to push the limits of endurance in a beautifully varied environment. Amenities abound at GLER Ultra Series events, with well-stocked aid stations ensuring runners are never more than 3.75 miles from assistance throughout the course. Participants and crew members can set up their own support areas near the McHenry-Main Aid Station within Race HQ at Tulip Hill Picnic Area. Race organizers emphasize that all participants must adhere to strict deadlines: fixed distance racers have until 9 PM to complete their races, with those starting after 6:45 PM required to carry lights and potentially run with a buddy for safety. The 12-Hour Race concludes at precisely 7 PM, marking the end of an intense but rewarding day. In recognition of achievements, race organizers present finisher medals along with unique items such as coffee cups or pint glasses, bumper stickers, and other memorabilia to commemorate each distance completed. Additionally, there are awards for top three overall male and female racers in both fixed distances and 12-Hour events, alongside age group winners across four divisions: Open (39 and under), Masters (40-59), Senior Masters (60-69), and Ambassadors (70+). All registered participants will receive a race t-shirt if they pre-order at least two weeks before the event. Race organizers encourage runners to arrive early for packet pickup and familiarize themselves with course details, ensuring an enjoyable and safe experience on August 20th. Join Team GLER as we celebrate another year of running excellence in this scenic setting!
