GUTS GRAVEL GLORY, part of the Virginia Gravel Series (VSPAS), is set to take place on Sunday, August 2, 2026. The race kicks off at 9:00 AM with number pickup starting from 7:30 AM at the RunRideRace tent in Pocahontas State Park. The course weaves through dirt roads and gravel paths, offering a unique challenge to participants. Suitable for both CX bikes and mountain bikes, this event promises an exhilarating experience. A timing chip will be attached to your race number; ensure it remains intact as its removal or damage could affect your results. Located just south of Richmond, VA, the park is situated at 10301 State Park Road Chesterfield, VA 23832. Upon arrival, you'll enter Bright Hope Equestrian Park on the south side via Beach. Standard parking fees will apply unless you have a state park permit; non-residents are encouraged to carpool or purchase an annual permit. This race is structured into three distinct distances: - An 8-lap event covering approximately 45 miles, depending on your GPS accuracy. - A 6-lap option for those aiming for the full 50-mile mark within a 2.5-hour window before starting their final lap. - A shorter 3-lap race totaling about 16.5 miles. A key feature of GUTS GRAVEL GLORY is its time cut-off system, designed to ensure fairness and safety. The course will be closed once the first rider finishes; however, participants on a lap at that point can complete it. A hard cutoff of 3 hours ensures all racers have ample opportunity to finish their laps. Aid stations are strategically placed near the end of each lap for water refills and bottle hand-ups—bring your own support as volunteers will not be available. The course map is counter-clockwise, so expect a different layout from what you might anticipate. Participants can look forward to an immersive experience in Pocahontas State Park's diverse terrain, offering both scenic views and challenging sections that promise unforgettable moments for all runners.
