HADRIANS WALL HALF MARATHON RUN 2026

Immerse yourself in history and scenic beauty at the 6th edition of the Hadrian’s Wall Half Marathon, scheduled for October 10-11, 2026. This half marathon offers runners and walkers alike a journey through one of Britain's most iconic historical sites.
The event kicks off from Housesteads Roman Fort, nestled along the Military Road near Hexham. Participants will traverse six miles alongside Hadrian’s Wall before descending to Newbrough and passing through serene woodlands. The final five miles are relatively flat as runners make their way into Hexham, culminating in a finish at Tyne Green Country Park.
To preserve this historic site, staggered start times between 9:00 AM and 11:00 AM ensure that groups of up to 75 participants set off together. This system helps protect the ancient trail while providing an enjoyable experience for all competitors.
The route is designed with walkers in mind on Saturday, October 10th, followed by runners taking part on Sunday, October 11th. The event also accommodates cani-cross enthusiasts, allowing one well-controlled dog per person to join along a lead throughout the race.
Live chip-timing will be provided by Timing Up North, ensuring accurate and timely results for all participants. Upon crossing the finish line at Tyne Green Country Park, runners are greeted with an event T-shirt, medal, and snack as part of their rewards.
For those wishing to carpool or park in Hexham town center, public parking is available nearby. The race organizers encourage sharing rides wherever possible to reduce environmental impact.
This year’s edition supports Heel & Toe Children's Charity, a local organization that provides essential therapy for children with physical disabilities and complex needs across the North East of England. Participants can make donations directly upon registration, contributing to this vital cause.
