Happy Days 5k

The Happy Days 5K returns to Ramsey, Minnesota on September 12th for its annual celebration of community spirit and fitness. The race starts at Elmcrest Park, located at the intersection of Pine Street and Elm Avenue NW in the heart of the city's historic neighborhood. Race morning finds runners gathering among the park’s mature trees and lush greenery, creating a serene atmosphere before the start.
Established over 10 years ago, this event has grown to attract hundreds each year, fostering a sense of camaraderie between participants from various age groups. Proceeds go towards scholarships for local students, helping them pursue their educational goals while supporting the community's future leaders.
The race offers both a 5K and Youth Fun Run on the same day. The 5K course is firm yet slightly soft underfoot, with notable features including a gentle incline near the midpoint that provides an excellent workout. Runners can expect to pass by the historic Ramsey City Hall as they approach the finish line at Elmcrest Park.
The Youth Fun Run begins and ends within the park grounds, ensuring safety for young participants. The route is flat and easy, making it accessible to all ages and skill levels. Elevation changes are minimal, with a slight incline near the center of the course that offers scenic views before descending back into the park.
On race day, temperatures will hover around 19 degrees Celsius with a comfortable feel due to low humidity. A light breeze at an average speed of 12 km/h can be expected throughout the morning, while occasional clouds may reduce sunshine by about half an hour compared to the norm. Precipitation is minimal, though runners should still bring lightweight jackets or rain gear as a precaution.
