Dive into the heart of Harrogate for an unforgettable junior aquathlon experience at the Triathlon England Yorkshire Children’s Event of the Year 2025. Hosted by the dedicated Harrogate Tri Club and sponsored by Lightwater Quarries, this event invites young athletes aged 8 to 16 to challenge themselves in a beautiful spa town setting. No matter your swimming or running prowess, every competitor is welcome to join the fun at the Harrogate Junior Aquathlon. With races tailored for different age groups, from beginners to more seasoned triathletes, there’s an event that suits everyone's abilities and ambitions. Racers will participate in one of five categories: - Tri Stars Start (Age 8): Swim 60m followed by a run of 600m. - Tri Stars 1 (Ages 9 to 10): A swim covering 120m and a subsequent run of 1200m. - Tri Stars 2 (Ages 11 to 12): This category includes an 180m swim and a challenging 1800m run. - Tri Stars 3 (Ages 13 to 14): Competitors will face a longer swim of 300m, followed by the same running distance as Tri Stars 2 at 1800m. - Youth A (Ages 15 to 16): The most advanced category features an impressive 420m swim and a run stretching over 2900m. Participants will enjoy a safe, traffic-free environment for the running segment, primarily on grass. Transition areas are conveniently located near a 30-meter pool where swimmers can quickly change into their running gear before hitting the course. Scheduled start times include: - 15:00 - Tri Star Start - 15:30 - Tri Stars 1 - 16:00 - Tri Stars 2 - 16:30 - Tri Stars 3 - 17:00 - Youth These times are subject to change based on the number of entries in each category. As part of the British Triathlon Yorkshire Junior Series, this event offers a unique opportunity for young athletes to earn points and climb the rankings within their age groups. The day is designed not just for competitors but also for spectators who can enjoy ample parking space, delicious refreshments, and an engaging event village with plenty of activities. Detailed athlete guides will be available two weeks before race day, while estimated start times will be released a week prior to the event, followed by final confirmation on Friday. Top male and female athletes in each age category will receive podium prizes for their outstanding performance.
