The Harvest Hammer Run and Duathlon 2026 returns to Morrison, Illinois on Saturday, September 19th. This event offers a variety of distances including the 5K run and walk for all ages, as well as special races for younger runners such as the Wee Run, Fun Run, and Challenge Run.
The race venue is conveniently located in downtown Morrison near Main Street Park. On race morning, runners will find themselves amid the bustling activity typical of a small Midwestern town preparing for an exciting day of competition and camaraderie. The setting offers a picturesque backdrop with green parks and busy streets that come alive as participants gather to compete or simply enjoy a fun family run.
Since its inception in 2016, this event has become a cornerstone of the Morrison community, drawing both seasoned athletes and casual runners alike. Over the years, it has grown significantly in participation, supporting local charities and scholarships while fostering a sense of unity among residents through shared physical activity.
The course venue is marked by hard and dry surface conditions typical for early September with minimal risk of rain but some humidity to expect. Runners will start their journey at Main Street Park before winding through the quiet neighborhoods surrounding Morrison. The duathlon route includes both running and biking sections, challenging participants across a 21-mile bike circuit followed by the 5K run.
Participants in the 5K race register between 7:00-7:45 AM with packet pick-up available at the same time. Kids races begin from 8:00 AM onwards, leading into the main event start of the 5K and Duathlon at precisely 10:00 AM. Wee Run participants will kick off their race around 10:15 AM followed by Fun Run and Challenge Run competitors starting ten minutes later.
Color run enthusiasts can join in from approximately noon onwards, adding a bit of fun with colorful powder as they complete the final leg of their journey through downtown Morrison’s vibrant streets. Race results are typically posted online at www.harvesthammer.org for those eager to see how well they performed or learn about fellow competitors’ efforts.
