About the Event

The Gulf Coast Bicycle Club (GCBC) is thrilled to present the 18th Annual Southern Magnolia Century, their largest annual cycling event. This year’s edition promises an unforgettable experience with scenic routes and opportunities for both seasoned cyclists and newcomers.
Registration is now open until September 19 at 7:30 PM, but early registration guarantees entry into exclusive prize draws. The GCBC will donate $5 to Extra Table, a local charity committed to feeding Mississippi's hungry communities, for each participant registered through the event. Additionally, you can opt to make additional donations directly during your sign-up.
The race features four distinct routes tailored to various skill levels:
- 27-mile route: Perfect for those looking for an easy introduction.
- 44-mile route: A moderate challenge designed to test intermediate cyclists.
- 66-mile route: Ideal for riders seeking a longer, more demanding ride.
- 100-mile route: The ultimate endurance event with an 8-hour time limit.
All routes start and finish at Snow Boogers located on King Bee Road in Perkinston. Cyclists must be registered by the deadline to secure their spot; there will be no day-of registration available this year.
The race begins promptly at 8 AM, with participants lining up according to pace—faster riders leading the charge followed by progressively slower groups. A comprehensive safety notice emphasizes helmet usage and recommends front and rear lighting for visibility during rides on open roads.
Rest stops are strategically placed along all routes:
- Start/Finish: Provides food and hydration.
- King Bee & Hwy 15 Fire Station: Offers additional amenities including port-a-potties, cooling towels, and Tailwind Nutrition products.
- Red Creek & Vestry (Bail Out Point): Critical for the 100-mile route if riders are not on schedule to complete within 8 hours by noon. This point offers an alternate route home via King Bee Road.
- North Carr Bridge & Blackwell Farm: Supplies essential hydration and food items.
Participants who register early can pick up their packets at Snow Boogers from Saturday, September 16th, starting at 6 AM. For those unable to attend packet pickup in advance, check-in will be available on race day between 6-7:30 AM.
The event promises a memorable experience with post-race massages courtesy of Blue Cliff College's massage therapy program and meal vouchers redeemable for lunch from local eateries.
All riders must download their routes through RideWithGPS to ensure smooth navigation during the ride, as limited traffic control will be in place along the courses.
