Dive into the spooktacular atmosphere of the 20th Anniversary Premier Halloween Race, an annual celebration that brings together runners and walkers for a thrilling day filled with excitement and fun. This year's race is set to take place at what was once Pennypack Elementary School (now known as Pennypack Community Center) in Hatboro.
The event features two main categories: the 5K run and the 1-mile walk, both of which start and finish at the community center. The 5K route winds through charming neighborhoods around Hatboro, offering runners a scenic course that includes a fast downhill stretch towards the end for an exhilarating finish. Participants will enjoy chip timing to ensure accurate results and can look forward to receiving long sleeve event shirts as part of their registration.
For those looking to add some extra flair, commemorative wool beanies are available for purchase on race day. These items serve not only as a stylish addition but also as a memento marking the special milestone year of this beloved community event.
The Halloween spirit is alive and well with costume prizes up for grabs in various categories including Best Adult Costume ($50), Scariest Adult Costume ($50), Funniest Adult Costume ($50), Best Child Costume ($25), Scariest Child Costume ($25), and Funniest Child Costume ($25). Additionally, the most imaginative group or family-themed costume will take home a $100 prize. While costumes are encouraged to enhance the festive atmosphere, they are not mandatory.
Age category medals for top three male and female finishers in each age bracket (8 & younger through 80+) add an extra layer of competition, alongside overall winner prizes for first-place men and women. These awards celebrate individual achievements while fostering a sense of camaraderie among participants.
Race day registration opens at 8 AM right at the Pennypack Community Center where runners can sign up or collect their race packets before heading out on the course. However, parking is not available near the start/finish line; instead, attendees are advised to park at Lehman Memorial United Methodist Church (300 S York Rd), Dollar General (317 S York Rd), and Bank Street Lot Parking in Hatboro.
