Haunts & Hallows returns to Virginia Beach, Virginia on October 25th, featuring a Half Marathon through the scenic trails of First Landing State Park. This event, organized by Winding Way Run Co., is designed for trail and ultra running enthusiasts who seek both challenging terrain and an inclusive community atmosphere. Participants will navigate winding paths filled with roots, bridges, sandy sections, and picturesque scenery across approximately 300 feet of elevation gain.
On race morning at First Landing State Park, temperatures hover around the average of 17.3 degrees Celsius, making for a comfortable yet brisk start to the trail run. The park's trails offer firm but slightly soft conditions underfoot, providing runners with both traction and respite from harder surfaces. With low humidity levels and minimal risk of precipitation during early morning hours, participants can expect clear skies and calm winds as they set off on their journey through the park.
Haunts & Hallows has been a tradition in Virginia Beach since its inception, drawing hundreds of runners each year who come together not only to compete but also to support one another. Over 300 participants are expected this year, with many more volunteers aiding along the course and at aid stations. The race donates funds to AIDNOW, an organization dedicated to raising quality of life for disadvantaged people both domestically and internationally through coordinated resources and community bonding initiatives.
The Half Marathon route winds its way throughout First Landing State Park's extensive trail network, offering a diverse mix of terrain that includes roots, bridges, sandy sections, and rolling hills. Runners will pass by aid stations four times along the course where they can replenish with Tailwind, water, soda, and various other treats provided by enthusiastic volunteers. The finish line welcomes runners with high fives, fist bumps, hugs, or any form of congratulatory gesture followed by refreshments like donuts from Glazed And Infuzed and coffee.

The registration fee is $75.00, with a deadline of October 8th to ensure correct shirt sizes. Bib pickup details are not yet available but will be communicated closer to the event date.
