The Crazy Legs Race Series is excited to introduce its newest addition for 2027: an endurance challenge set within Hawthorne Park at 500 Ackerman Drive, Porter, Indiana. This unique race invites participants to run a one-mile loop as many times as possible over the course of four hours, starting promptly at 8:30 AM Central Time. The event takes place on town streets, marked with flags and arrow signs for clear navigation throughout each lap. The route offers runners an opportunity to explore scenic stretches within Hawthorne Park while pushing their limits in a supportive atmosphere. A detailed map can be found here: . Participants will have access to an aid station located inside the community center, where they can grab some fuel or warm up if temperatures drop during the race. As part of its mission, Crazy Legs Race Series aims to promote non-pavement and pavement races across Northwest Indiana. The series strives for inclusivity by welcoming all individuals regardless of sexual orientation, biological sex, gender identity, or expression. Transgender runners are encouraged to register according to their identified gender without needing any documentation. The race organizers would like to acknowledge the historical significance of the land on which these events take place. This territory was once home to various indigenous nations including the Miami, Shawnee, and Illinois Nations, as well as other groups such as the Lenape (Delaware). The Crazy Legs Race Series honors those who have cared for this land throughout generations. Participants will receive a limited-edition t-shirt featuring an exclusive design that will be announced in due course. Should supplies run out, runners can look forward to receiving winter hats and gloves instead of shirts. This event promises not only physical challenge but also a celebration of community spirit amidst the natural beauty of Hawthorne Park.
