All participants must follow event rules as provided by the organizer. The course consists of dirt fire roads and single-track trail — flat but unforgiving in the heat. Most DNFs result from improper hydration and electrolyte management. Runners are required to check in at each aid station. Dogs are not allowed on the course per insurance policy.
Pacers: one pacer allowed at a time for 50 milers (last loop only) and 100 milers (anytime after completion of 3rd loop). A single pacer bib is provided.
The course is marked with blue reflective flags on the ground and blue reflective ribbon hanging from tree branches. Runners are highly recommended to download the course map to watch/phone (AllTrails allows offline navigation). Wildlife in the area includes deer, alligators, wild hogs, snakes, spiders, coyotes, and bugs.
The Hell Hole Hundred is a summer endurance test in South Carolina's hot, humid swamps, offering distances from 10 km to 100 miles on flat but unforgiving trail, with full aid stations, pacers for longer distances, custom swag, and a focus on hydration and heat management for all participants.
