About the Event
Welcome to the Hermitage of Braid and Blackford Hill Trail Runs, featuring 10km and 5km courses set amidst stunning natural beauty. Organized by Scurry Events, this annual race not only challenges runners but also supports local communities through charitable donations. The event takes place at the historic Hermitage of Braid House in Edinburgh, offering participants a unique blend of challenging terrain and picturesque views. The trail runs are designed to cater to both seasoned athletes and recreational runners alike, with clear markings and marshals stationed along the way for safety and guidance. For those who prefer shorter distances or wish to enjoy the festive spirit, there's also a 1.2km Festive Fun Run that winds up and down the main drive of Hermitage House. All children participating in this event will receive an elf hat as part of their race gear, adding a touch of holiday cheer. Registration for the longer distances opens at 8:45 AM on Sunday, November 22nd, with start times scheduled shortly after to ensure all runners are ready and briefed. The 10km course features a challenging loop that includes ascents up Blackford Hill, providing panoramic views over Edinburgh. Meanwhile, the 5km route is equally scenic yet slightly less demanding. All participants in both distances will receive commemorative mementos upon completion of their run, while post-race refreshments are available for all runners to enjoy. The event also features a prize-giving ceremony where top finishers across various categories will be recognized and rewarded with accolades. The Hermitage of Braid offers limited parking options near the venue; therefore, public transport is highly recommended. On-site facilities include portable toilets at designated areas around the start/finish line for your convenience during the event. Join us in supporting South Morningside Primary School and the Friends of the Hermitage and Blackford Hill as we celebrate this year's edition of the trail runs—where every step contributes to a greater cause.
