Celebrate the grand return of one of Canada's longest-running races as we mark its 50th anniversary. The Starlight Run offers runners an array of distances to suit every level, from beginners to seasoned athletes. On Saturday, June 19 at 6:00 p.m., participants can take part in a scenic 5k route that winds through the heart of downtown and along picturesque waterfront paths. For those looking for more of a challenge, Sunday morning on June 20 presents two options starting at 8:30 a.m. - an invigorating 10k course and a shorter but equally exciting 3k event designed specifically for younger competitors or casual runners seeking a less demanding option. A unique feature this year is the opportunity to double dip with either the Little Dipper (combining both the 5k and 3k events) or the Big Dipper (the 10k followed by the 5k). Both routes are meticulously designed, certified by Athletics Canada for accuracy and sanctioned by Athletics Ontario to ensure a fair competition. In addition to the main races, children can also join in on the fun with a dedicated kids' 200m sprint held over both days. This event has consistently sold out at its capacity of 2,000 participants each year since 2026 but organizers are actively exploring ways to accommodate more runners for next year's edition. The Starlight Run promises not only an exhilarating race experience but also a vibrant atmosphere filled with community spirit and support. Whether you're racing competitively or simply enjoying the beautiful surroundings, this event is sure to leave lasting memories. Join us as we celebrate half a century of running excellence in Canada! Participants can look forward to well-marked courses that are certified by Athletics Canada for accuracy and sanctioned by Athletics Ontario, ensuring fair play and safety throughout each race distance offered.
