The HERS 27th Annual Breast Cancer Walk/Run Fundraiser and Community Expo returns to Fremont, California on September 26th. Participants gather at Quarry Lakes Regional Park for a powerful morning of support and community spirit.
Starting early in the crisp pre-dawn light of 7:00 am, race participants will find themselves among the trees and trails of Quarry Lakes. The park's well-maintained pathways provide a beautiful setting as runners navigate through the lush greenery, with plenty of open spaces for walkers to enjoy. On race day, the atmosphere is one of camaraderie and support; vendors line up with booths offering refreshments, giveaways, and prizes.
The event has been running since 1999, making it a beloved tradition in Fremont. With over 300 participants each year, HERS focuses on supporting low-income, under-insured, and uninsured patients by raising funds for post-surgical products and services that aid both physical and emotional healing. This year's event will feature opening ceremonies with a Dove release to honor the heroes present.
Course and conditions offer a 10K run, timed 5K runs, and a 5K walk. The race starts at Quarry Lakes Regional Park on Fremont Boulevard near the intersection of Mission Blvd. The course layout includes firm yet slightly soft pathways that may be affected by morning dew. Elevation changes are minimal, with no significant climbs or descents. Two aid stations will provide water stops along the way.

For those who plan to attend in person, bib pickup is available on Friday, September 22nd from 1-8 pm at Fremont High School (36231 Warm Springs Blvd). The race starts promptly at Quarry Lakes Regional Park located at the intersection of Mission Blvd and Fremont Boulevard.
The event is open to all ages, but participants must be 5 years old or older to run in timed races; walkers can participate without age restrictions. First-timers should ensure they have their photo ID for bib pickup and any required documentation if participating as a youth athlete.
