About the Event

Join us for The High Ground Gravel race, the thrilling finale of the 2026 WV Gravel Series at Terra Alta, West Virginia! Nestled at an elevation of 2500 feet above sea level, this picturesque setting offers a unique mountain experience. The event is hosted by Alpine Lake Resort and features three distinct courses: Long, Medium, and Short.
The Long Course race will commence at 10:00 AM on the scenic trails around Alpine Lake Resort. For those seeking a slightly shorter challenge, the Medium Course kicks off an hour later at 11:00 AM. The Short Course provides an exhilarating 20-mile route starting at 12:00 PM.
Packet pickup is conveniently available from Friday, October 16th, between 6:00 and 8:00 PM at Alpine Lake Resort. Race day registration will open early on Saturday morning at 8:00 AM, with an option for last-minute registrants to pay a $100 fee in cash or by card.
Race participants can look forward to a range of amenities including well-stocked aid stations generously supplied by Hammer Nutrition and other sponsors. Aid stations are strategically placed along the courses:
- Long Course: A first aid station at 17 miles, another at 33 miles, and a second visit at mile 53.
- Medium Course: A single aid station at 17 miles followed by one at 33 miles.
- Short Course: Just one aid station located at the 19-mile mark.
On race day, enjoy complimentary food provided directly from Alpine Lake Resort. This event promises an unforgettable experience in the heart of West Virginia's beautiful mountain landscape.
