Hill Training

About the Event

The Derwent Runners Hill Training is an intense and challenging workout designed to push runners out of their comfort zones. Participants tackle a grueling 5-kilometer course that consists entirely of steep, upward climbs through the scenic hills surrounding Lake Derwent.
As soon as you begin your ascent, you'll feel the burn in your legs as you navigate rocky terrain and switchbacks. The route winds its way up to breathtaking viewpoints where runners can pause briefly to take in panoramic views of the lake below before pressing on towards the summit.
While this is a run focused on hill training, it's also an opportunity for camaraderie among fellow athletes who share your passion for conquering vertical elevation gains. Whether you're aiming to improve your overall fitness or simply looking to conquer new heights, the Derwent Runners Hill Training offers a unique and rewarding challenge that will leave you feeling accomplished.
Participants should come prepared with proper footwear and attire suitable for steep inclines and cooler temperatures at higher elevations. This event is perfect for those who enjoy pushing their limits in scenic natural settings while improving their hill running skills.

About Darley Abbey

Learn more about the host city, Darley Abbey.

Scenic view of

Darley Abbey is a former historic mill village, now a suburb of the city of Derby, in the ceremonial county of Derbyshire, England. It is located approximately 1.4 miles (2.3 km) north of the city centre, on the west bank of the River Derwent, and forms part of the Darley ward along with Little Chester and the West End. The settlement dates back to the medieval era, when it was the site of an Augustinian monastery. In the 18th century, the Evans family developed their planned industrial mill village in the area; Darley Abbey is now part of the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site.
