Hinton's Run in the Rockies

About the Event

Hinton's Run in the Rockies returns to Hinton, Alberta on Saturday, September 19th for its third year. The event offers runners a challenging course through the trails of the Hinton Nordic Centre and is open to all who wish to test their limits or enjoy a scenic run.
Race morning at the Nordic Centre sees clear blue skies typical for early fall in Alberta. Runners can expect firm, slightly soft trail conditions underfoot as they navigate the varied terrain. The 10km race begins and ends just outside the centre's entrance on Pine Lake Drive. Participants will encounter moderate UV levels, necessitating sun protection.
The Hinton Half Marathon course stretches over a distance of 21.1K from the Nordic Centre to the town center, passing by local landmarks such as the picturesque Pine Lake. The Kids Race offers an engaging and fun 5km route for younger participants. All races benefit the local community through scholarship funds provided annually.
The race venue features a mix of forested trails and open paths, providing runners with diverse landscapes to run in during their respective distances. Aid stations are strategically placed along the course to support participants throughout the journey. The Half Marathon offers an additional challenge for seasoned athletes while the 5km provides an enjoyable route for all skill levels.
Weather on race day will be mild but cool, with a temperature range of approximately 10°C to 16°C and moderate UV index at 3.5, indicating necessary sun protection. Runners should prepare for conditions that are comfortable yet require attention to hydration due to the possibility of slight wind or light precipitation.
