Eugene’s Holiday Sweater Stroll returns on December 6th, inviting runners of all ages to don their favorite holiday sweaters and join the festive fun. The race features both adult and youth categories with distances ranging from a leisurely 5K to a brisker 10K. Race morning finds participants in Eugene's lush parks, where well-maintained trails offer firm footing but remain slightly soft underfoot, creating an inviting setting for all runners. As the sun rises over the city, casting warm light on the array of colorful sweaters worn by spectators and racers alike, the atmosphere is nothing short of festive. This event has become a cherished annual tradition in Eugene’s community, attracting both seasoned athletes and newcomers eager to support local charities through participation fees that benefit scholarships. Last year saw more than 400 participants join the race, underscoring its significance beyond just runners but also for the broader Eugene community. The course runs along established trails with notable features such as gentle inclines and scenic views of the city. The journey begins at Hayward Field, a historic venue known for its athletics heritage, and concludes on the same grounds, ensuring an inspiring conclusion to the run. Weather conditions are expected to be mild, ranging from 10°C to 15°C (about 50°F to 60°F) during race time, providing cool but comfortable running conditions. Registration is open until November 30th at https://raceroster.com/events/2026/118608/holiday-sweater-stroll. Bib pickup will be held on December 5th from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Eugene Convention Center, where participants should bring a valid ID and $2 for each bib. The race kicks off promptly at 9 AM sharp in Hayward Field Park. Participants must be 18 years old or older to join adult categories; there are no age restrictions for youth races. Don't forget to wear your holiday sweater—top-three winners will receive gift cards from Human Bean post-race, ensuring a memorable morning run. Join us for this fun-filled morning where runners can showcase their festive spirits while supporting local scholarships—making it worth attending year after year.
