The Holmfirth 10k, born out of the long-standing tradition of the Holmfirth 15 race since its inception in 1968, offers runners an escape into the picturesque landscapes of Yorkshire. In 2022, organizers introduced a new course that highlights the natural beauty of the Holme Valley and its rolling hills. This event is not for those seeking flat urban tracks; instead, it caters to athletes who thrive on challenging yet rewarding terrain. The route winds through stunning countryside dotted with moorland vistas, providing an engaging experience for runners looking to push their limits while enjoying breathtaking scenery. Participants can look forward to a competitive atmosphere and the chance to win several prize categories. These include top three finishers in both men's and women's divisions, first veteran (40+, 50+ up to 70+) in each gender category, as well as team awards for men’s and women’s squads. Proceeds from this race will benefit The Kirkwood - The Hospice for Kirklees. Runners can contribute further by making additional donations upon registration or purchasing a high-quality technical t-shirt commemorating their participation. Note that the option to buy these shirts closes on Sunday, 27th September, allowing time for printing and delivery. In recognition of its scenic course and challenging nature, the Holmfirth 10k has been designated as the Yorkshire Veteran's Athletic Association (YVAA) 10k Road Championship Race in 2026. YVAA-affiliated athletes can enter normally; organizers will filter results to award prizes based on age categories starting from 35 years old. Entry modifications, including place transfers or deferrals, are possible until Friday, 9th October, ensuring flexibility for those planning their race day logistics. The Holmfirth 10k promises an unforgettable blend of scenic beauty and competitive spirit, making it a must-attend event for runners who appreciate the grandeur of Yorkshire's landscapes.
