Honeybee 5K

Immerse yourself in nature while supporting an important cause at Pinson Mounds State Archaeological Park's Honey Bee 5K. This unique event offers both virtual and in-person options, allowing participants to contribute to the park’s Honey Project by establishing and maintaining honey bee hives.
Registration is open until September 14, 2026, for a $25 entry fee if you choose the virtual option or $20 for an on-site run. Virtual runners can complete their race at any time between September 4th and 14th, logging their results online to receive a finisher’s medal.
For those who prefer in-person participation, gather at Pinson Mounds State Park on September 12th from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm. The race route winds through the park's scenic trails and historical landmarks, including Duck Nest trail and Mound 28, offering a memorable experience for runners of all skill levels.
Participants can start their journey either at the Museum Parking area or Group Camp Parking area before heading out on an approximately five-kilometer trek that highlights the natural beauty and rich history of Pinson Mounds. Finishers will be able to pick up their medals from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm.
The event coincides with Bee Fest, featuring educational booths and craft displays in the Event Area alongside a visit to the museum where you can learn more about beekeeping practices and conservation efforts.
