When: April 2026 | Meet up: 5:30pm, Race: 6:30pm, Finals: 7:30pm, End:10pm
Where: TBD
Join us for the fourth round of Hot Laps sponsored by Runners Roost, Citius RC, and Our Mutual Friend. This relay race takes it back to the streets in this third iteration. Teams of four race to complete as many laps as they can in 45 minutes. The top five teams with the most laps progress to a final round where the fastest laps win.
Relay teams are mixed gendered and created by racers before they sign up. Each team should at a minimum have one member of the opposite gender (2 girls/2 guys, 3 girls/1 guy, etc.). Assign a team captain to retrieve team bibs and baton Wednesday, July 23rd from Runners Roost Denver - 1685 S Colorado Blvd J, Denver, CO 80222 or come early to pick up day of. (If you do not have a team to sign up with, one will be assigned on race day. Please plan on picking up your bib at the registration table to be assigned a team.)
Hot Laps takes inspiration from the motor racing world where cars compete on fixed courses to complete as many laps in a set time.
Similar to the world of car racing, Hot Laps require teamwork. Mixed gendered teams will compete on an unsanctioned course where each member has to exchange in a predetermined zone. To keep track of laps, after the baton is passed, each runner will receive a marker from their designated volunteer. At the 45 minute mark, teams will add up their marks and we will advance the teams with the most laps to the final round.

Denver is the capital of the western U.S. state of Colorado and the dominant city of the Rocky Mountain Region. Founded in 1858 as the placer gold mining camp known as the Cherry Creek Diggings, the "Mile-High City" is today the most populous city within a 560-mile (900 km) radius and the center of the Front Range Urban Corridor of more than five million residents. Denver embraces its cowboy and mining past but also looks toward the future with a vibrant arts and performing arts scene, dozens of great outdoor festivals, and distinct neighborhoods each offering a unique experience. You'll find everything a cosmopolitan city has to offer including a spectacular view of and easy access to the beautiful Rocky Mountains, which arise only 12 miles (19 km) west of the Colorado State Capitol.
