Hot to Trot Dive into the heart of summer at Hot to Trot, an unforgettable endurance challenge set against the sweltering backdrop of July. This race isn't about speed; it's about resilience and how many laps you can endure before the heat gets the better of you. Join Georgia Ultrarunning & Trailrunning Society (GUTS) for this unique event held at Boling Park in Canton, where runners are met with a 1-mile loop that weaves through grassy patches, rugged trails, and compact dirt paths. The course is flat and level, offering little to no elevation change, making it perfect for those looking to rack up the miles without worrying about steep climbs. Membership to GUTS costs just $15 per year, which includes a discount on race fees plus other perks. Once you're part of GUTS, there are no refunds or transfers available, so prepare yourself thoroughly before signing up. The course is lined with one central aid station located at the start/finish line, where runners can refuel and rehydrate with water, electrolyte drinks, sodas, ice, chips, cookies, candy, pickles, popsicles, and even fresh watermelon. Personal tents are welcome around the starting area to provide a cool respite between laps. As you step into this race, expect temperatures soaring well above 90 degrees Fahrenheit in Georgia’s humid July climate. Hypo- or hypernatremia can be serious concerns, so it's crucial for participants to manage their hydration and electrolyte intake effectively before the event begins. The race director retains the authority to remove anyone they believe is at risk. Since its inception in 2004, GUTS has been fostering a community of adventure-loving runners dedicated to encouraging trail and long-distance running experiences that are inclusive for all who wish to join and strive towards their goals. Hot to Trot isn't just about pushing your physical limits; it's an opportunity to connect with fellow endurance enthusiasts in the spirit of camaraderie and mutual support.
