Experience the classic Huffmaster race on February 28, 2027, starting from Maxwell High School in California's scenic countryside. This mixed-terrain cycling event offers two routes: an 89-mile journey and a shorter 59-mile option, both featuring gravel roads that traverse lesser-known paths west of Highway 5 and east of the Mendocino National Forest. The longer Huffmaster route begins with 25 miles of flat pavement before ascending gradually to mile 40. From there, riders face a steep climb on unsealed terrain from mile 40 to 43, reaching an elevation of 1,700 feet. After descending into Stony Creek, the course continues with another ascent and descent toward Leesville Gap at mile 67. The route concludes with a short gravel climb followed by rolling roads through Sites before finishing on pavement. The Huffmaster Mini joins the main event via Sites and features a challenging 3.5-mile climb from 550 to 1,800 feet elevation, along with approximately 25 miles of gravel riding. Both routes are open to traffic, so participants must adhere strictly to all laws and rules for road safety. In case extreme weather conditions make the original course unsafe, a Plan B route will guide riders through Leesville Road into the valley before returning to Maxwell—a still impressive loop that maintains the essence of the event's challenge. Registration opens November 1st, 2025, with early bird pricing available until December 27th at $155. Regular registration rates apply from December 28th through February 14th ($170), and late fees are added for registrations between February 14th and February 27th ($185). Day-of entry is also an option if spots remain, though it comes with a $20 surcharge on top of the standard registration fee. For those who prefer to manage their race entries easily online or integrate Strava data, creating a Movemint account can streamline your experience. Transfers for registrations are possible until February 19th at 11:59 PM PST if unforeseen circumstances prevent attendance. Join cyclists from around the globe as they tackle this unique blend of terrain and challenge in one of California's most picturesque settings.
